Guides for guesthouse and holiday-let owners in Tunisia
Opening a guesthouse, letting a flat by the night, registering your guests, paying the right tax, knowing what a property can earn: our guides answer the questions owners ask us.
Why these guides
What we have learnt on the ground
Kasbahost runs guesthouses and apartments in the Medina of Tunis day in, day out. Before handing over their property, most owners ask us the same things: which permits are needed, what the law says about short-term lets, who fills in the police registration form, how the tourist tax works, and how much it all earns once costs are paid.
These guides are written by the Kasbahost team, based on what we do every day: registering guests, collecting the tax, preparing owners’ statements and setting prices week by week. We cite official texts where they exist and say clearly what remains uncertain, because the rules for guesthouses and furnished lets in Tunisia are still changing.
We update them regularly, and each guide shows the date it was last revised. They are no substitute for advice from a lawyer or accountant on your own situation.

From reading to planning
If you are thinking of handing over your property, start with our offer for property owners: two models, management for a commission or a lease with fixed monthly rent. Then, depending on your property, see guesthouse management for a dar with rooms and breakfast, Airbnb management in Tunis for a home already listed, or short-term rental management for an apartment.
For a first ballpark figure, our revenue estimator gives a range based on property type and number of rooms. And to understand the area we work in — how guests get there, the souks, what travellers come for — read our guide to the Medina of Tunis.
